Lawyers have already been sanctioned for AI hallucinations.

Now a federal judge is at the center of one.

Mississippi asked the Fifth Circuit on Monday to reassign a case after U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate acknowledged that an earlier order contained errors generated with Perplexity.

At the hearing, one appellate judge pointed to names, authorities and statements that didn’t exist…

And questioned whether the court could trust that AI hadn’t affected the underlying reasoning.

This one raises a much bigger question about AI in the courtroom.
